Tax deadline extended for taxpayers in Presidential Disaster Area

The flash-flooding that occurred in Missouri in March 2008 caused widespread damage and prompted President George W. Bush to declare part of the state a major disaster area.

As a result of this declaration, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Missouri Department of Revenue (MDOR) announced special tax relief for Missouri taxpayers in the designated disaster area, which includes Callaway, Franklin, Gasconade, Howard, Maries, Osage and 29 other counties.

The filing and payment deadline was extended to May 19, 2008, for affected taxpayers. Taxpayers considered to be affected taxpayers include individuals who live in the Presidential Disaster Area as well as businesses whose principal place of business is located in the covered disaster area.
