WK audit personnel attend continuing education seminars
As part of Williams-Keepers LLC’s ongoing effort to provide its clients with updated information and superior service, several of the firm’s audit personnel recently attended continuing education programs in the disciplines of employee benefit plan and governmental audits.
Heidi A. Chick, CPA, member owner, attended the National Conference on Employee Benefit Plans in Las Vegas. The conference, sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, featured speakers from the Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Treasury and other industry experts and addressed how recent legislation changes affect the taxation, accounting and audits of benefit plans.
Kelly M. Schwartze, CPA, audit senior, recently attended the Advanced Governmental Accounting program, sponsored by the Government Finance Officers Association. The three-day program, held in Detroit, covered accounting and financial reporting guidance applicable to capital assets, grants, risk financing, debt, investments, pension and other specialized governmental accounting topics.
Russell W. Scott, CPA, audit senior, recently attended the Accounting for Pensions and Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) seminar in Reno, Nevada. The seminar, hosted by the Government Finance Officers Association, focused on accounting and financial reporting standards for pension and OPEB plans and guidance for preparing a comprehensive annual financial report for public employee retirement systems.
